This book is all about a girl called Lucy who has become the ‘Promised One’ when she had a car crash and her brain clicked. The ‘Promised One’ is someone who can talk to animals and in the future will save them from humans.
She speaks to animals in an old-fashioned language. The author has an extremely wild imagination and came up with a new words that the animals use such as ’spotfang’ for leopard and ‘wolfkin’ for dog.
Lucy is a very determined and confident girl. I really like her and wanted to be in the Amazon jungle with her because the author made it sound even more thrilling and amazing than it actually is.
Lucy travels to the Amazon jungle after she is kidnapped in England. The kidnappers take her as a consequence of her knowing about their menacingly vile plans to murder all the jaguars for their skins.
She makes a dramatic escape from her kidnappers with the help of all her animal friends and due to her cunningly clever ideas. Her father is a scientist and has gone to the same jungle as Lucy, but unfortunately his plane has crashed and he is chased by a tiger and tragically falls off a cliff face into a massive unknown crater!
Lucy and her animal companions rescue her father and two lost scientists in a perilous and daring enterprise.
I liked the book because of the fast moving plot and I wanted to keep reading it even though my parents told me to go to sleep! I would recommend this book to animal lovers and people who like to seek adventure. There is one more book that David Alric has written in this series. I can’t wait to read it!

that’s a lovely review. You should send an email to the author so he can read it too.
Makes me want to read the book! — jay
