What you have to do is to find the mutual denominator for numbers 8 and 12 which is number 24. You times 12 x 2 to get 24 and 3 x 8 to get 24. When you changed the denominator, you have to change the numarator so what you do to the dinominator you do exactly the same to the numarator so the strategey is 3 x3 = 9 and 11 x 2 = 22. So overall we have the 2 fractions which are 9/24 and 22/24. Now add them together so it becomes 31/24. But we don't want it to be an improper fractoin ! So 31 - what makes 24? Its 7. So then in the end you have to add 24/24 + 7/24 so then it becomes 1 whole and 7/24 !!!

I think the answer is 31/24. How I worked this out 8 and 12 both go into 24. 8 goes 3 times 12 goes twice. what ever you do to the bottom you do to the top. so 3 x 3 is 9 and 2 x 11 is 22. 9 + 22 = 31. so its 31/24!

Well done chaps, both of your answers look great.....but how can this be? You have both written diifferent answers so how are you both right? Can you remember to use the correct language to explain your answers!! All three of you need to get a GFG when you get to class.

This was an easy question. At first I didn't understand 1 word of it but then Mr Woods told me how to do it and I can do it very easily.

Mr Woods here Aziz, glad that you now find fractions..."EASY", I must try and find some REALLY hard ones for you to solve next time we visit them! I look forward to seeing who posts answers to your question, and who gets it correct!
